Pallet Shed - Day One

Helped James Rylance with his final degree show piece today - working title of Pallet Shed - built it on the Chelsea College parade ground, with Tate Britain in the background.

Had to call in the scaffolding team to assist - they are the ones in the hard hats ...

Work suspended whilst discussing the peice with interested passers-by.

End of a productive first day - photo shoot followed by some of James's excellent home brew ...

Sheds to Newcastle

After filling up the van, I went for a walk in the sun around the Tyne's quayside -

This week, I will be helping a third year student at college to build a shed for his degree show. There seemed to be sheds as art wherever you looked in Newcastle. The first one is a floating shed called Flow, a tidemill, by Owl Project and Ed Carter which also generates its own power using a tidal water wheel and produces sounds from the Tyne, using electro- acoustic musical machinery.

In the Baltic art gallery, was a shed piece by Richard Rigg, titled Lacuna, complete with half a Scottish mountain side inside

There was even a shed in my hotel room ...

Set off early the next morning with fog on the Tyne ...
