Olympic Studios AIR - Day 2

David Gilmour's guitar playing on the Kirsty MacColl's 1989 album, Kite, was recorded at the Olympic and most of the album was mixed there. Johhny Marr and Pino Paladino also play on a few tracks. There's a bench in Soho Square, London commemorating her tragic death in 2000.

The Squeeze 1979 album Cool for Cats came in a number of colours, including green, blue , pink and purple.

The McGuinness Flint 1970 funereal album cover reflects their hit ,When I'm Dead and Gone - the band split in 1971 - Gallagher and Lyle emerged from the wreckage ,..and had a big hit with their 1976 album Breakaway. The tape operator, unusually detailed on the McGuinness Flint album cover, was a young Chris Kimsey, now the Olympic's sound consultant.

Mott the Hoople's 1972 album was produced by David Bowie and he wrote their massive hit, All the Young Dudes. He also offered them Suffragette City which they turned down and Drive in Saturday, but Bowie didn't like their arrangement so withdrew the offer. I like the name of the bass player, Overend Watts.
