Tokyo, Museum of Contemporary Art trip

Walked from the metro station to the museum mainly through small residential side streets

Really interesting exhibition of Berlin based artists , Playing among the ruins, 2000-2011.

Phil Collins's video work , the meaning of style (2011), features Malaysian skinheads at play.

I also enjoyed other works by Fuji Re-United, featuring the history of Bernard Leach pottery, Isa Genzken's wonderful reclaimed glass stacks, Matthias Wermke & Mischa Leinkauf's brilliant video of placing a swing around Berlin in illegal spots i.e. tube lines and canals.

and Kristine Roepstorff's large scale collages - but the gallery police stopped me taking pictures ...
Great escalators though.

The MOT collection featured an eclectic but well edited mix of contemporary work.

Entrance to the Pippolotti Rist piece

Had lunch at the museum's wacky Cafe Hai, a Vietnamese, Moroccan, Japanese melting pot of a cafe.

On the walk back to the metro, more glimpses of Japanese life.

Kindergarten trolleys.

Found ourselves in a women only carriage on the metro - applies only in rush hour.

Find yourself avoiding eye contact, so much gazing at your shoes - or other passengers' shoes.

Back at the hotel, they were making sure the escalator was in pristine condition.
