Whitechapel gallery visit

En route to the gallery - Brick Lane posters and signs ...

Spitalfields market getting ready - I like the reflection in the mirror

Wilhelm Sesnal - Polish painter "Whatever you do, don't cheat"
But its ok to copy an iconic Seurat image ...

Iranian power station - paint dripping upwards could be radiation fall out. A number of these images have a detailed explanatory caption written by the artist - once read you tend to read the paintings on a more literal level - not sure this makes it better or worse. Probably worse.

Polish pig farm - or reference to WW2 atrocities?

His image of what a hangover looks like when just waking up and opening your eyes.

Blanked out faces - thought these were the two most powerful images and were aided by no narrative.

Rothko - 1961 exhibition at the Whitechapel remembered - bizarrely his original typed instructions on how to show and exhibit the work were totally ignored for the one painting now on show where was the natural light he insisted upon ?

And why is it you are not allowed to take photos in these galleries ? - surely all publicity is good publicity for the owners of the works of art.
